This is a land and water based examination, which is assessed by an ISA Instructor Trainer, it can be held over 1 day or 2days depending on ability or conditions.
On the water one must be able to demonstrate confidently all the manoeuvres up to Improving Skills, be able to use the Kites and Wires confidently and efficiently and be able to sail a triangular course rudderless. The candidate must be competent and safe in all conditions.
On the land one must be able to demonstrate full confidence with all the Shorebased information within the SBSS up to improving skills, also the candidate must have a keen awareness and understanding of the weather, be able to navigate using charts and be safety conscious.
On completing the assessment the candidate can then go forwards to complete thier SBSS Dinghy Instructorship within 12 months.
Course Type: Practical, Theory
Required Experience: Sailing skills and Theory to an advanced level.
Assumed Knowledge: Knowledge to an advanced small boat sailing scheme level.
Course Content: Small boat Sailing Scheme course knowledge and skills training and assesment.
Ability After Course: Candidates who pass can go on to attend the ISA small boat sailing scheme Instructor course.
