STCW'95 Commercial Skipper 200 Ton (Motor Yachts)

The phenomenal growth in the superyacht industry has resulted in aglobal shortage of commercial skippers worldwide. This course can enable skippers to get the required qualifications to start within this industry as Skipper, 1st Mate or as an Officer of the Watch. This professional training will allow you to become 'Master of Yachts 200 Ton' inconjunction with the Royal Yachting Association (RYA). The scheme is accredited bt the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) and is one of the leading standards throughout the world. The Certificate of Competence are required by commercial skippers on motor vessels up to 200 gross tons and as an entry to Super Yacht qualifications.

Those completing the Yachtmaster program will receive the following:
(1) The Yachtmaster Offshore - Shore Based Navigation Certificate
(2) Radio Communications Certificate
(3) Personal Survival Techniques Certificate (S.T.C.W. 95)
(4) Fire Prevention and fire Fighting Certificate (S.T.C.W. 95)
(5) Elementary First Aid Certificate (S.T.C.W. 95)
(6) Personal Safety and Social Responsibility (S.T.C.W. 95)
(7) Over 3,000 Nautical Miles
(8) M.C.A. Recognized Yachtmaster Certificate of Competency (S.T.C.W. 95)
(9) RYA/ISA National Powerboat Certificate
(10) RYA/ISA Advanced Powerboat Certificate
(11) Two weeks work placement on commercial vessels. (Ireland or abroad)

  • Course Type: Practical and theory
  • Required Experience: Must be able to pass a medical including eye sight test.
  • Assumed Knowledge: Basic knowledge and experience of general boating is desirable
  • Course Content: Skippers responsibilities, Navigation, Boat Handling,
  • Ability After Course: STCW'95 Certificate of Competence - To be able to skipper vessels up to 200 ton in coastal, offshore or ocean waters.
  • Duration: 18 weeks fulltime
